Production Description

Scutellaria baicalensis, the name of Chinese medicine. Also known as Camellia sinensis root and Tujin tea root, it is a perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Scutellaria baicalensis in the Lamiaceae family. It has thick fleshy rhizomes, hard and papery leaves, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate shape, and racemes are terminal on stems and branches, with corollas. Purple, purple-red to blue, flat filaments, slender style, ring-shaped flower disc, brown ovary, small ovoid nuts, flower and fruit period from July to September. Scutellaria baicalensis grows on sunny grassy slopes at an altitude of 60 to 1,300 (1,700 to 2,000) meters. Produced in Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Henan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Sichuan and other places, it can be planted in most provinces and regions in northern China. Its roots are used as medicine, with a bitter taste and cold nature. It has the functions of clearing away heat and drying dampness, purging fire and detoxifying, stopping bleeding, and preventing miscarriage. It is mainly used to treat febrile diseases, upper respiratory tract infections, lung-heat cough, damp-heat jaundice, pneumonia, dysentery, hemoptysis, red eyes, fetal movements, high blood pressure, carbuncles and boils. The clinical antibacterial activity of Scutellaria baicalensis is better than that of Coptis chinensis, and it does not produce drug
