What is Gotu kola?

Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is an herb in the parsley family. It has a long history of use in the traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine systems.It has the effect of clearing away heat and dampness, detoxifying swelling and detumescence. It is often used for jaundice, heat stroke and diarrhea, stone drenching and blood drenching, carbuncle swelling and sore poison, falling and flushing injury.

What is the Constituents of Gotu kola extract?

Gotu kola extract contains triterpenoid glycoside (saponin) compounds. Like asiaticoside and madecassoside and their analogous aglycones like Asiatic acid and madecassic acid.

Apart from these four primary bioactive phytochemicals of the C. Asiatica plant, some other constituents are β-sitosterol, brahmoside, brahminoside, brahmic acid, betulic acid, centelloside, daucosterol, hexacosanol octanoate, isothankunoside, isobrahmic acid, kaempferol, oxyasiaticoside, quercetin, succinic acid, thankunoside, and vanillic acid.
