INTRODUCTION

Tetrahydrocurcumin (as THC Curcumin) is color-free compounds derived from curcumin, It is hydrogenated from curcumin which is isolated from the roots of curcuma longa.

THC is an active form that has strong antioxidant properties while regular curcum is not an active form and less effective an antioxidant. Ø Strong Absorption: While regular curcumin suffers from poor intestinal absorption, tetrahydrocurcumin boasts three times the absorption capacity of regular curcumin, allowing it to be directly absorbed in the intestine. Curcumin is rapidly metabolized into glucuronic acid or sulfate conjugates in the body, with a half-life of only 1-2 hours. However, tetrahydrocurcumin removes its α,β-unsaturated ketone structure through hydrogenation, extending its half-life to 11 hours at a pH of 7.4. This significantly improves its bioavailability and allows the active ingredients to function more effectively.

Ø Low Recommended Dose: Due to its excellent absorption, the recommended daily dose of tetrahydrocurcumin is only 400 mg to achieve the same antioxidant properties, while regular curcumin requires at least 1500 mg per day.
